Cancer Care Fund

As a concerned advocate for cancer patients in our community, Arroyo Grande Community Hospital Foundation created the Cancer Care Fund. The Cancer Care Fund provides our community with a wide range of cancer support – from diagnostic screenings to financial and emotional support.

Services provided through the Cancer Care Fund include:

•No-cost diagnositc screenings

•Biopsies

•Genetic counseling and testing

•Gas and grocery gift cards

•Financial support

•Support groups

•Counseling

At least 1,460 people are diagnosed with cancer in San Luis Obispo County every year. Early diagnosis and treatment are key in making a full and fast recovery, and that’s why the Cancer Care Fund provides no-cost mammograms and other diagnostic screenings, biopsies, genetic counseling and testing, and therapies to those that could not otherwise afford them.

In addition to the ever-present stress of living with a cancer diagnosis, many patients are faced with an unexpected financial hardship due to increased expenses related to their cancer treatment. The Cancer Care Fund ensures that each cancer patient is paired with a Nurse Navigator to connect them with any resources they may need throughout treatment and recovery. The Cancer Care Fund provides gas and grocery gift cards to those in need, as well as assistance with necessary expenses like utilities or rent. Additionally, it provides cancer support groups and counseling to those in need of emotional support, as treatment outcomes are better when the patient feels supported physically and emotionally as well as clinically.

Each of these services is made possible by community support. Each gift to the Cancer Care Fund helps support cancer patients throughout their journey.
