Monarch Dunes Memorial Breast Cancer Tournament

The 2019 Monarch Dunes Memorial Golf Tournament raised $25,000 to benefit cancer patients in need at Mission Hope Arroyo Grande. This tournament has supported the Cancer Care Fund annually since 2013. Each year, businesses and individuals have the opportunity to place a memorial sign on the course in memory of a friend or loved one.

Through community support of the Cancer Care Fund, patients in need receive assistance with gas and groceries, other financial assistance, diagnostic screenings, counseling sessions, and cancer support groups. The fund also supports an oncology nurse navigator and social worker to personally guide each patient from diagnosis throughout recovery and connect them with any resources they need. Maurine Minnis, who organized this year’s tournament, said, “I was asked by a dear friend to continue a memorial golf tournament which was started when his sister passed from breast cancer.  We are now able to provide this wonderful service to persons with all cancers. We always just see the disease and not all the things that can happen in the lives of those these funds are provided for.”
